leaf-sapphire asked you:
“otouto come and explain to me why pls >_< Romney seems the scarier choice…” Obama has done so much damage to our country… X_X; He does not know what he’s doing, and his ideas simply won’t work… I don’t much care for Romney either, but anybody is better than Obama at this point. What makes you say Romney is scarier? (Also, why do you know so much about America’s politics? o.o)
But Romney ;;; His mindset is just so. He just doesn’t seem very informed about certain issues, and some of his supporting politicians have terribly archaic stands on subjects like marriage, women etc.
While Romney apparently is supposed to be experienced on the economic side of things (I’m not sure how, this slightly conflicts the arguments about him potentially rolling back the USA economy to the pre-Obama state that is to say, going dooownnn idk that’s - ), Obama did state that given time, the newer economy policy will improve things… I get the argument that middle class people have less motivation to ‘make it’, since the upper class have to pay more tax, I do. But considering the reports of how upper class politicians like Romney himself use their tax cuts and privilege …. Ok I have no real knowledge about this so moving on.
People rights-related laws etc. This seems to be the issue that riles up the younger gen that follows politics, the most. I’m not certain about Mr Romney’s stand (either I’m not following closely enough or Mr just avoids the question too well) but his supporting politicians… Obama legalises same-sex marriage. Romney’s supporters call it un-Christian and wrong. Romney + co want to ban things like tampons and contraceptive pills. Among their reasons: “it should flow freely, without unnatural hindrance. The pill kills babies. For rape cases you say? now the female body has a way of shutting down this processes and preventing pregnancy *insert archaic and wrong science crap here* legitimate rape c’mon get it? ” Tbh, I have no idea at all why they had to bring up this issue during a presidential campaign. *buries face in hands* It just seems to be such a wrecking subject gdi.
I don’t know how electing either will affect things happening for USA like say, the budget cuts for education, the troops movement overseas and at home, international relations (though Romney did mistakenly declare Russia as USA’s enemy which is kind of orz-inducing), welfare budget, actual precaution steps and development for disasters and climate change, jobs etc. But a lot of Romney’s campaign gives the impression of misinformation and old beliefs (read: prejudice) and. Obama is not the perfect president USA hoped for, sure. But Obama seems the less damning option as of right now…
Hey, otouto, tell me from your view, what Obama has done wrong mmkay? I honestly want to know.
Also, while this is obviously anti-Romney, I find it somewhat informative? *reads* erm. ah. …and that’s why same-sex marriage should be legalised, ‘nuff said.
Oh here’s the post I was looking for. And I think this is more relevant to you though I’m not sure.
Tumblr talks quite a bit about the election, and not just in the HAHA JOKE manner, if you follow the right people. (I love my logic+fun bloggers wah) And they linked out to some lively discussion forum threads as well, so while I don’t know all the angles and technical bits, I’ve heard a number of opinions..? I’m not knowledgeable about this subject really lol.

It also interests me a bit more than local politics simply bc USA politicians are usually better at declaring what they aim and plan to do + better media coverage + general public acknowledgement of basic human rights. Well yeah there’s still a lot of prejudiced beliefs, but at least such things would garner a vocal and large protest for leaning-to-correct reasons. Here, people can still be surprisingly blind // make a lot of not-intelligent noise** , casting the subject in a i-can’t-take-it-seriously light … ….Hey, I do the latter sometimes too so ya have an inkling right? Could be doing it right now! And these past few years, British political campaigns seem to be consistently student protest student protest I hate rich Tories I hate poor people most of all I hate foreigners go back to your own countrryyyy what do you mean migrants are boosting our economy tHOSe are OUR jobs wanker. not the nicest to follow tbh
Anyway, yeah, it’s less frustrating to follow, esp when Obama’s campaigning, guy knows how to spark a response ^^;
